WHAT IS THE PFTA?The PFTA stands for Parents, Friends, Teachers Association.
If you have a child, grandchild, friend, or are a teacher or member of staff at Goodleigh Primary YOU ARE A MEMBER!
Principally the PFTA raises funds to assist the school to pay for items, facilities and equipment that are not automatically provided by the Local Education Authority budget.
Goodleigh PFTA is a very active and lively concern! Almost all our events are for fundraising purposes but in an enjoyable and sociable atmosphere. Hopefully, this enables many families to get together on a friendly and mutually rewarding basis.
Approximately 5 years ago Goodleigh PFTA started a Breakfast Club. This was one of the first in the area to be "up and running", and it still is. Children attending have lots of fun before the school day starts, and parents can drop them off from 8.00am. Places may be pre-booked. Visit the Breakfast Club page for details.

We have great support from additional members of the school. You are invited to attend meetings once a month. We welcome any new and fresh ideas from everyone!
There are many ways you can become involved - volunteers are needed to assist with organising and helping at fundraising events and help is appreciated at After school clubs. To name but a few helpful ways!!
We update and replace equipment when needed. For example our last big project was to update the libraries in class 1 and 2. Books, shelving, rugs and beanbags were bought to make these areas nice, attractive places to sit and read.Playtimes were thought about and, as you can see above and opposite, the PFTA bought scooters that are a great hit!, and various outdoor games including giant sized Draughts and Dominoes. These additions now give the children lots of options on how to use their free time.
Three or four times a year we have organised "tidy-up" days which have ended as sociable gatherings at the New Inn - with hot dogs and Squash provided by PFTA Funds! - What more incentive could you have!
Recent events have included a "Curry and Quiz" Night hosted at the New Inn, and a very successful Coffee Morning with freshly baked cakes and the aroma of fresh coffee!

CURRENT PROJECTS.
The PFTA have paid for a School Team Sports Kit. The School Council, consisting of 2 representatives from year's 3,4,5 and 6, held a meeting to decide on a choice of colours and team names to be printed on the reverse. They took the choices to the rest of their peers who voted for which they liked. The votes are now in and emerald green polo shirts with the team name "Goodleigh Stars" are currently on order. Goodleigh will now look the part at future sports festivals.
PLAYGROUND EXTENSION!
We will be now targetting fundraising towards buying equipment for the new playground which is under construction very soon!
