6 Feb 2007 - Goodleigh School gets bigger!!
After an epic legal process delayed by lost deeds and the re-siting of a possible electric sub-station to the edge of the site we have finally purchased the triangle of land which used to be Dereck Ridd's garden. This will give us an exciting addition to the main school site. Once planning permission has been obtained, we hope to complete the landscaping involved in time for the site to be used from September 2007.
The new area will allow us to move the main entrance to the school further down the road. This will give a safer gateway and a flat level path to the front door.
Part of the playground will be lowered, giving a larger flat area. The shed will be moved so that an improved quiet seating area with plants can be created.
In the new piece of land, we plan to have a raised cabin, an all weather path and a circular seat around a new memorial tree. We will also be fixing a plaque to the memory of Dereck with our thanks for his support for this project.
