22 May 2006 - A day to explore being Romans
How will we feel about mosaic making, toga wearing, handling real roman tiles, putting on Roman armour and discovering more about Roman toilets?
There was so much to do at the museum. At the end, we had to decide what we would have done in AD60, if we had been part of the local tribe, The DUMNONI.
Most people thought they would have joined with the Romans so as to have a more peaceful life under their protection. Four children thought they would have carried on fighting, even though there were thousands of Roman soldiers in Brittania. Five people thought they would have joined the army because of the quality weapons, good pay and the protection this would give them.
THE ROYAL ALBERT MUSEUM IN QUEEN STREET IS FREE, AND WELL WORTH A VISIT IF YOU ARE IN EXETER.
